Charles "Charlo" Christian, has been a Corrections Officer, Air Marshall, Martial Arts Instructor, a Lieutenant in The US Virgin Islands Prison System, and Warden of  The St. Croix Corrections Facility.   He is a loving husband, parent, and grand-parent as well as a business entrepreneur.  Charlo gained quite a reputation by building and running his own body-building gym facility, while still managing to successfully juggle all of the other aspects of his busy life. Sensei Christian has contributed to the welfare of the community for many years.  He has become well known for doing charitable work throughout the Virgin Islands;  donating his time in helping to develop and teach safe, humane restraint techniques for Youth Corrections Officers, Hospital Orderlies, Women's Prison Guards, and High Security Prison Guards.  Charlo was partners with Gerard Patalidis in the V.I. Martial Arts Academy, which eventually became "8 Ways Of The Dragon" when they added the talents of Bob Chapman to their ranks.  After Bob left St. Croix, Gerard and Charlo reformed VI Martial Arts and still taught together for a number of years until Soke' Dai Patalidis retired from teaching.  Even after Gerard retired from teaching the public, Charlo spent many hours with Grandmaster Patalidis as his friend and as a student of the nuances of the Kawashi Ju-Jit-Su System and of the many other arts Gerard had mastered.  One of Charlo's own contributions to the exercise routines of JKD practitioners can be found in the book "Jun Fan/Jeet-Kune-Do, The Textbook" by Chris Kent & Tim Tackett.  On Page 119 is his practice routine which is labeled:  "Charlo's Drill".  Charlo has now retired from the Corrections System but still runs his work-out facility known as "Charlo's Gym" and teaches Aikido, African Martial Arts, Boxing, Kick-Boxing, Ju-Jit-Su, JKD, Kali, and Bulldog JKD Concepts.

Charlo's many certifications include:

50 Hours of Certified Instruction spent at "The Great Smoky Mountain JKD/Kali/Silat/Thai Camp" with instructors- Dan Inosanto, Fred Degerberg, Chai Sirisuite, Tim Tackett, Larry Hartsell, Paul DeThouars, and Bert Poe.
