Take The “A Frame”:

Part 1: The Basic Movement

1. Bob Chapman stands in the relaxed, ready position.

2.  Clap & Step! Bob claps his hands high (so that he can just see under them) as he grips. At the same time,

Bob lifts his left leg with his foot and knee pointed slightly outward.  (Note the lines of intended movement on

these photos.  These 4 pictures should be thought of as one continuous, flowing movement.)

3. Bob raises his left elbow and brings it down diagonally in front of him as he begins to step down and forward

 (once again, note arrows).

4. The movement is now completed. Step up with your right foot to return to the ready position,

then repeat the movement starting from the right side this time.

Take The “A-Frame”:  Combat Example

Example No. 1:  Responding to an attack from the Inside Line.

1.Greg answers Cary’s attack with an A-Frame Clap & Step, just as in the previous examples.

2.As Greg plants his foot, it slides down Cary’s shin, landing heavily on top of Cary’s foot,

and his elbow collides with Cary’s face. Cary’s second punch is deflected off the A-Frame.

3. With a quick twist of his body, leaving the A-Frame frozen in place, Greg is able to strike powerfully to

his opponent’s chest.  If he felt it necessary, Greg could continue walking forward, striking again and again

 with each step.
